Dasaolu books Beijing spot

James Dasaolu booked himself a spot on the plane to Beijing this summer for the World Championships after finishing runner-up in Birmingham this afternoon.

Dasaolu has always run well in Birmingham, setting both his indoor & outdoor PB’s in the city, a silver medal alongside his qualification ‘A’ standards combined to secure his spot.

“My main objective here was to finish in the top two and I did that,” reflected James. “It’s still seven or eight weeks until the Worlds and time to get some good training in, so I’m positive I can only get better and go forward.”

“Everything’s going alright this season – I’d like to run a bit quicker but with the World Champs being in August, I’ve got time to gain some speed before then. I’m happy.”

James confirmed he would be in front of a home crowd again in London at the Anniversary Games.

“I’m racing next in London in a couple of weeks and I’ll have another race as well before that as well. The calibre of British sprinters is high – I got beaten here today so I need to push it on now.”
