Dasaolu runs incredible 9.91

James Dasaolu became the second fastest British athlete of all-time on Saturday in warm conditions at the British Championships.

Dasaolu wowed his home crowd in Birmingham this weekend as he clocked a 9.91 seconds in the 100m.

The time has only been bettered by Linford Christie who holds the fastest time at 9.87seconds in 1993.

‘It was an incredible feeling to post the 9.91 time and it makes it even more special for it to have come in front of the British public.’

It was a time that has been coming and was in fact his fourth personal best of the year.

‘It’s been on the cards for a while now. I have been running well under the guidance of my coach Steve Fudge and going into this week I felt that it could be the weekend that I go sub-10.’ Said Dasaolu in reaction to the time.

‘It was an incredible feeling to post the 9.91 time and it makes it even more special for it to have come in front of the British public.’

‘My aims now are to continue my progress in London in a few weeks before the World Championships in Moscow.’

Dasaolu posted a World Championships A standard qualification time in his first outdoor competition of the year in Geneva, which came off the back of a fine indoor season which saw him gain a 60m silver medal at the European Championships in Gothenburg.
