Dasaolu thanks fans for 100m final support

James Dasaolu met his second goal of the season having competed in last night’s 100m World Championships final in Moscow.

The Croydon Harrier had two goals for this season; to run sub-10 and to reach the 100m final. His fine semi final performance of 9.97 achieved both of those.

James, finished 8th in the final but was happy with his development over the season so far and is confident that there is more to come this year.

‘I got to 50 or 60 metres but then they just started to run away from me. I think the semi-final took it out of me but I made it through three rounds and I’m happy that I’m injury free and I can continue with the rest of the season.’ Said Dasaolu who announced himself as a serious contender on the 100m scene at the Championships.

‘My build-up wasn’t the best, yesterday was my first time coming out of blocks so I knew I’d be a bit rusty. I didn’t have all the training behind me so it certainly took a lot out of me and my body didn’t have enough to give come the final. But I gave it my best and just ran out of energy for the last 20 or 30 metres.’

‘I’d like to thank the fans for all my messages of support over the past few weeks. It really has been incredible.’
