James Dasaolu wins British indoor crown

Sprinter James Dasaolu won the 100m at the British Indoor Championships in Sheffield on Saturday running a season’s best of 6.53.

Dasaolu was in impressive form in the final beating off stiff competition from Andrew Robertson (6.54) and Sean Safo-Antwi (6.57).

“I am so pleased, honestly, it was so tight I didn’t know if I had got it,” reflected James. “The win means so much to me after the season I had last year. I am happy to return to winning ways with a seasons best and cement my place in Portland.”

The result means that James has met the required standard for the World Indoor Championships in Portland in mid-March.

“We have a good bunch of 60m runners and the goal will always be to win a medal now.”

“We have a good bunch of 60m runners and the goal will always be to win a medal now. I’ve become British Champion, I am in great shape. I know I didn’t get a great start in the final but I still got the win.”

“The plan was always to go to Portland and build in a few races. I always run well outdoors after a strong indoor season so I will focus on my training now before the Champs.”
