James hails new sprint generation

Fresh from winning the 100m European title last Wednesday, James hailed the new sprinting generation as British Athletics collected their biggest medal haul at the European Championship medals in Zurich.

“We’re so strong in Britain in both the males and females,” said James. “We’ve shown that at the World Indoors earlier this year, it’s an example of that new generation emerging, and now here at the European Championships.”

Dasaolu took the gold medal in Zurich running 10.06 in the 100m final whilst training partner Adam Gemili took gold in the 200m final. Britain’s men’s and women’s teams also won their respective relay races in the 4×100 finals.

“We have so much depth at the moment and that’s fantastic to see.”

“We won both relays yesterday and off the back of a successful Commonwealth Games. We’re now in a brilliant place and are doing really well as a sprint nation.”

“I should also mention at the junior levels there have also been some amazing performances. We have so much depth at the moment and that’s fantastic to see.”
