James recognised with Charnwood award

James Dasaolu was named as Charnwood’s Sports Person of the Year last week as he was recognised for an outstanding 2013.

It was a year which saw him run a 9.91 at the British Trials, claim a silver in the European Indoor Championships and compete in the World Championships Final in Moscow.

James who trains at Loughborough University was presented with the award at the annual Sports Awards at Burleigh Court.

“It’s been a brilliant year for me,” said James. “Next season I want to build on the success I’ve had and win more medals.”

Britain’s second fastest man of all-time was presented with the award by leader of Charnwood Borough Council David Slater.

He was also on hand to present the team award and to take part in a Q&A with the BBC’s Ian Stringer.
